7th Grade Technology Assignments
QUARTER 1 LESSONS
Seventh Grade Technology Lessons will explore the world of computer programming through the use of Scratch. Multiple projects will address the fundamentals of programming and video game design. Students will be challenged to work creatively and make each project unique to them by customizing various aspects of the code. In addition, students will still receive keyboarding practice to continue their mastery of the keyboard.
7th Grade Week 1 - Introduction to Computer Lab & Mac OS X Review

- Move, resize, maximize, minimize, arrange windows

- Demonstrate proper finger position on keyboard

7th Grade Week 2 - Google Drive Review

- Take Key Learning 1 typing test using a box to cover the keyboard, report adjusted wpm score to receive a grade
- Your grade will be based on 20 wpm scale, type 20 wpm or higher to receive 100%
- Complete coding card project when done with test
7th Grade Week 9 - Complete Missing Work

- Students will develop their own arcade style game in Scratch using all the skills learned throughout the year. The focus should be on a simple to understand game concept which is executed flawlessly with win/loss states and intuitive controls.
- Students may borrow ideas from existing games but should make this project their own.
7th Grade Week 35 - Typing Test #6 - Key Learning 4 (35 wpm)

7th Grade Weeks 36-38 - Scratch Project Remix

- Take any previously completed game and remix it. Add additional elements, scoring systems, controls, enemy players, etc., to enhance the game play. Altering the design and look is also part of this assignment
- The goal of these weeks is to apply knowledge of Scratch and programming to improve upon existing work and correct past mistakes for a more flawless result
